My School Bilingual Education
Bilingual education is an advantage for life.
We are an Early Childhood and Elementary BILINGUAL School, which aims to go beyond educational services, providing students with an extension of the family environment.
A mother and grandmother educators founded My School in 2007, inspired by the birth of the first grandkid of the family.
The project soon involved the entire family, and currently all units are personally led and accompanied by some of its members.
My School receives children from the Nursery to Elementary, during extended hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Our space is differentiated and unites coziness, hospitality and nature with bilingual education of the highest quality.
The name My School is an invitation for students, educators, parents, and staff to be able to claim ownership say, “It’s My School”.
My School, a place to grow, learn and discover the world.
Classes in English, not english classes!
My School’s Bilingual Education follows rigorous criteria that include the hours of exposure to the English language, the formation of the team and the creation of an effective bilingual environment.
In the process of learning the second language, in My School, children are invited to speak the language, without this being an imposition. Several strategies are adopted to involve them affectively and in a playful way with the language and motivate them to speak, read and write in English.
At My School, we adopted the immersion system in which the educators responsible for the class are the reference of the English language and use it during the whole period of the child’s stay in school. Portuguese, on the other hand, is worked on Physical Education, Musical Tale and Fairy Tales classes that are taught once a week by specialist teachers.
The great advantage of bilingualism in Early Childhood Education is that second language learning takes place naturally, such as learning the mother tongue.
In Elementary School students are encouraged to pursue academic excellence in both languages, building on the solid foundations built in Early Childhood Education. The courses offered in English are approached in such a way that the learning of contents and language happens in an integrated way.
In addition, the multicultural environment exposes students not only to a second language but also to cultural aspects of countries where English is the native language. Students come into contact with songs, games, traditional toys, celebrations, important dates, curricular contents and school routines of other countries broadening their horizons. In addition all the cultural content contained in the grammatical structure, vocabulary specificities and other cultural aspects contained in the English language are experienced by the student.
